Best Places to Propose on Oahu
Choosing the right backdrop is essential for a romantic proposal. As an experienced Oahu beach proposal photographer team, we know the most breathtaking spots on the island.
Quiet Beaches like Waimanalo or Lanikai offer incredible turquoise waters and powdery white sand, perfect for a romantic, secluded moment. These beaches feel far removed from the tourist crowds, creating an intimate atmosphere that makes the moment feel even more special. Scenic Lookouts like Makapuu Lookout or Tantalus offer sweeping vistas of the coastline and ocean that are perfect if your partner loves dramatic views and adventure.
Sandy Beach Sunrise
If you're staying in Waikiki or on the south side of the island, Sandy Beach is the perfect spot to propose. The beautiful light at sunrise makes a beautiful backdrop of glowing rays. Sunset works well too, and is much less crowded than Waikiki.
Waimanalo Mid Morning
The East side offers gorgeous mountain views paired with serene clear water. Mid-morning sun allows the water to have a beautiful turquoise color. Although about 40 minutes from Waikiki, the drive is worth it!
Kualoa Sunset
If you're craving a more unique background than just a beach, Kualoa Beach area is for you. Not only do you get the beautiful palm tree lined beach, but the magestic Ko'olau mountians. The lush greenery will give you lots of backgrounds to choose from!
Mokule'ia Sunset
This beach is the one that has the least amount of tourists, if you're hoping for a surprise proposal with a little more privacy. Sunset colors look gorgeous at this secluded location.

While in the booking proposal, you'll pick your date, fill out a questionnaire, sign your contract and pay for your session all in one place. Once your session is paid for you are officially booked. We will email to nail down the perfect location. You will be sent a What to Wear Guide just in case you need a little help picking your outfits.

In 4-6 weeks, you'll get a link to a gallery to select your 50+ photos from all the best ones we have edited. After selecting your photos you'll get a link to download your images. You'll have the option to pay for the remainder of the gallery or individual photos too.

Never fear, it takes some creativity, but we do this all the time and we’ll help you through the whole thing!

Yes, the weather can be unpredictable, so we usually only pay attention to it the night before the session. If the rain looks light, we can usually wait under a tree for a few minutes when the rain comes, but keep doing the session. (This is a great way to get epic rainbow shots!) Or if it looks really bad we will reschedule. If there is no way to reschedule before you go home, we will only be able to refund half of your payment fee.
Can we reschedule the session if it rains?
After we are done editing your gallery, you will receive a link via email to your watermarked gallery. You will then select your photos directly in the gallery. Once you have selected the correct number of photos you will be sent a downloadable gallery without watermarks. If you then decide to pay for your full gallery, please let us know.
How does selecting photos after the session work?
We classically edit photos, which means distractions in the background and coloring are the extend of our edits. We aim for authenticity, so we will not be photoshopping people to make them thinner or extensively edit blemishes, scars, or other ‘imperfections’. If you are hoping for the look you get with filters on social media, we won’t be able to match that level of editing.
Do you photoshop?
Yes, but please let us know ahead of time. If you do decide to switch outfits please know that the time it takes you to change ( walking back to the car/ restroom) will be taken out of your total photography time. This can mean 15-20 minutes lost, so please take that into consideration.
Can we change outfits during the session?

We have a planning call as part of our proposal package, so we go over together what type of proposal you want and how we will pull it off. On the day of we implement our plan which usually involves sharing our live location with you via text, so we can make sure you are at the beach and at the correct location. We also use a pre-arranged signal — like taking off your sunglasses or setting down your bag. This way we know exactly when you are about to drop to one knee. We will make sure the moment is captured! We also "recreate" the scene as part of the photoshoot just to make sure you have that instagram worthy shot!
how will we coordinate the exact moment?
Don't worry! Even if they suspect something is up, the actual moment you ask the question is always filled with genuine surprise and emotion. We have seen it happen where the significant other was expecting it, and the photos are always incredible regardless. The real feeling has always come through.
What if they figure it out?
Yes! After you pop the question and take a few moments to celebrate, cry, and call your families, we will spend the rest of our session time taking beautiful, newly-engaged portraits of the two of you. It is the perfect way to commemorate the beginning of your engagement.
