We’ve shot over 350 weddings in venues all over Oahu and have seen lots of breathtaking venues that make wedding photos stand out that much more.
The last thing you want to remember about your ceremony or reception is the awful décor that is unchangeable at some venues (Toto’s reception hotel had some obnoxious carpet!)
We have compiled a list of our favorite Oahu venues that will truly take your wedding photos to the next level.
Some of the most spectacular backdrops in Hawaii come from its beaches and there are plenty of beaches on Oahu, but 3 stand out to us as the most gorgeous, and best for elopements + small wedding ceremonies. In order to get married on a public beach on Oahu you need to get a wedding permit (coordination of beach permit is an add on to our elopement + intimate wedding packages). Arches aren’t allowed and you can only have 30 people at the ceremony (including vendors) so elopements and very small weddings are best.
Waimanalo Beach’s turquoise waters + light brown sand make this a striking choice. There are so many different places along this beach to take different styles of photos, with forest trees and background mountain views that encompass the beach!
Yokohama Bay Beach is pretty empty of tourists on weekdays, and perfect for small ceremonies. Its western most location make it an amazing place for sunset ceremonies + photo sessions. The mountains surrounding the bay offer beautiful views of green next to the crystal blue water.
Papailoa Beach is a secluded beach on the North Shore of Oahu and has some unique rocks and features that are just breathtaking.
There are many hotels to choose from on Oahu, especially in Waikiki but not all hotel venues are created equal. Here are 2 of our favorites, and the ones who have the best looking interior + exterior, because you want your pictures to speak for themselves. Hotels are a great option if you have many peope coming to the ceremony / reception. These hotels can accommodate all your guests, depending on the site you choose for the ceremony.
The Kahala hotel has many different locations for ceremonies, and it’s lobby chandelier makes taking beautiful pictures very easy!
The Royal Hawaiian’s pink exterior make it an iconic choice, and perfect for unique pictures of your day
If you have your heart set on getting married in a church, St. Andrew’s Cathedral in Honolulu is a great choice. It has a spectacular stained glass window wall that creates stunning pictures at every time of day! There is also a beautiful column structure outside the church where more unique pictures can be taken.
We personally think the following venues are all gorgeous + unique in their own way, and will give your ceremony or reception all the tropical vibes it needs to make your pictures stand out.
Waimea Valley is hidden in a secluded botanical garden on North Shore. Their Hawaiian + tropical vibe comes from beautiful native Hawaiian plants on the extensive grounds.
Halekoa Estate’s tropical plants and intimate grounds make it feel like you are getting married at a rich friend’s paradise estate.
Sunset Ranch’s whole property truly captures the old Hawaii country feeling. Sunsets there are gorgeous (as the name implies)
Kualoa Ranch has a spectacular view of China man’s hat and the beach below. It’s mountain backdrops and large trees create breathtaking photos over any part of the property
